Voters on peta2.com Help Artists Land Libby Awards for Promoting Animal-Friendly Attitudes

Los Angeles -- Three musicians who lend their considerable star power to helping animals have won kudos from peta2, PETA's youth division, in the sixth annual Libby Awards ("Libby" is for "liberation"), which honor animal-friendly people and products. Ke$ha, a foe of the Canadian seal slaughter and McDonald's archaic chicken-slaughter methods, has taken home the title of Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist. Never Shout Never's Christofer Drew, a vegetarian activist through and through, has won the award for Favorite peta2 Hottie. And The Ready Set's—aka "Jordan Witzigreuter," singer and multi-instrumentalist—pro-activism campaigns landed him the award for Most Animal-Friendly Band.
"Ke$ha, The Ready Set, and Christofer Drew aren't just great performers—they're also great animal advocates," says peta2 Division Manager Marta Holmberg. "From teaming up with peta2 to promote vegetarian meals to speaking out against the seal slaughter, these artists work hard to promote animal-friendly attitudes."
Also up for Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist were Justin Bieber, k-os, and Waka Flocka Flame. Christian Serratos, Angela Simmons, and Jona Weinhofen were also nominated for Favorite peta2 Hottie. And other candidates for Most Animal-Friendly Band were Hellogoodbye, The Swellers, and Tokio Hotel.
Twenty-nine Libby Awards will be given out this year, recognizing everything from the most animal-friendly record label to the top animal-friendly celebrity. Each winner will receive a framed certificate and be featured on peta2.com.

Winners were chosen by peta2 based on equal consideration of three factors: the number of votes received, the quality of the animal-friendly product or the nominees' enthusiasm for being animal-friendly, and feedback from the nominees' fans.
