Norfolk, Va. — What do comedy superstars Russell Brand and Kristen Wiig have in common besides when they're not making people laugh? They're the king and queen of PETA's 2011 Sexiest Vegetarian Alive contest. But you don't have to be a celebrity to be named a sexy vegetarian. That's because PETA has just launched its 2012 Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door contest to give every person who has made the animal-, health-, and Earth-friendly decision to go vegetarian a chance to claim a title of his or her own. Two winners (one male and one female) will each receive a trip for two to Hawaii, courtesy of and donated by PETA's Member Advantage Program.

"On average, vegans and vegetarians are fitter, trimmer, and healthier than their meat- and dairy-eating counterparts, and that makes them sexier too," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "And nothing is more appealing than someone who's both passionate and compassionate."

The entry round ends at 12 noon EDT on March 26, 2012. Vegans and vegetarians (no previous finalists, please!) can enter the contest using this online form. Public voting to help PETA determine the finalists begins on April 2, 2012. The finalists—10 males and 10 females—will be notified and featured on PETA's websites by 12 noon EDT on April 23, 2012. Voting on the finalists to help PETA determine the winners ends at 12 noon EDT on May 7, 2012. Winners will be notified and announced by May 14, 2012.

For more information and to vote in the contest, please click here.

Four factors will be given equal consideration when PETA chooses both the finalists and the winners: the number of votes received from the public, the enthusiasm demonstrated by the entrants in living and promoting a vegetarian lifestyle, PETA's assessment of entrants' attractiveness, and entrants' potential to reach a wide media audience.
