Los Angeles -- After learning that the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is holding a contest for the most eye-catching and informative packaging of its free condoms, the folks at PETA's L.A. office rose to the occasion and submitted artwork featuring a condom-covered cucumber and the words, "Protect Yourself: Go Vegan, L.A.!" Judges will choose the top 50 designs, and the public will vote on the 10 designs that will be used. (Additional contest details can be found here.)
"The cholesterol and saturated animal fat found in meat, eggs, and dairy products can clog the arteries that go to all your organs, not just your heart," says Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "It's a hard medical fact: Men who choose broccoli over bratwurst slash their risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and impotence."
Up to 90 percent of all impotence cases are physical as opposed to psychological. High cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, and prostate cancer are leading causes of impotence, and scientific research has strongly linked each of these conditions to the consumption of animal-derived products. Animal products have also been strongly linked to heart attacks and strokes.
Going vegan isn't just a great way to increase bedroom performance—it's also the best way to help animals. Every vegan saves more than 100 animals a year from the mutilations and other abuses of factory farms, fishing vessels, and slaughterhouses.
