Ottawa, ON -- In the wake of the House of Commons' expected passage of the conservative Omnibus Budget Bill—which has garnered intense criticism for striking down several of Canada's environmental protection laws—a dozen PETA members, wearing nothing but blue and green bodypaint to represent the Earth, will gather on the steps of Parliament Hill on Tuesday with signs that read, "You Can Save the Planet! " and "Go Vegan!" to tell environmentally conscious Canadians that they can still help the planet on an individual level simply by choosing healthy, humane vegan meals.

When:   Tuesday, June 19, 12 noon

Where:  Steps of Parliament Hill, 1 Wellington St. (near the intersection with Metcalf Street), Ottawa

"According to the United Nations, the meat industry is in large part responsible for some of the most serious environmental problems we face today, including climate change," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "The Canadian public might not be able to stop this bill, but each of us can help stop damage to our forests, our water supply, and the global climate—all we have to do is keep meat, eggs, and dairy products off our plates."
