Washington -- Decked out in star-spangled bikinis and holding signs that read, "Free Vegan BBQ," a pair of sexy PETA activists will hand out free meatless wings outside the Safeway Barbecue Battle in Washington on Saturday. The lovely ladies will explain that delicious vegan barbecues contain none of the animal fat or cholesterol found in meat—and they're kinder to animals, too.

When:   Saturday, June 23, 11 a.m.

Where:  The intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Seventh Street N.W., Washington

"Cows, pigs, and chickens on factory farms suffer immensely before their throats are slit and their bodies are covered in barbecue sauce," says PETA's Ashley Byrne. "Barbecue Battle attendees who sample PETA's cruelty-free, vegan wings will see how easy it is to enjoy the taste of a barbecue without harming animals—or our arteries."
