Veggie Hot Dogs and Vegan Sloppy Joes Thrust Ballpark Into a Top-Ranking Spot

Los Angeles -- Today's baseball stadiums offer an ever-increasing array of healthy and delicious vegetarian food choices. So for the 11th straight year, PETA has ranked the Top 10 Vegetarian-Friendly Ballparks. Dodger Stadium made PETA's list this year, coming in at number five.
"With new ownership and delicious new meat-free options, things are looking up for true-blue Dodger fans!" says PETA Associate Director Chris Holbein. "Fans can rejoice knowing that vegetarian options such as vegan sloppy Joes and veggie burgers are available at the ballpark."
Other big hits leading the vegetarian lineup at Dodger Stadium include veggie hot dogs, cucumber rolls, and a tofu vegetable flatbread sandwich with Vegenaise.
Sliding into first place is Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, which serves barbecue-pit-style vegetarian beef and decadent faux-chicken sandwiches. Climbing all the way to second place after receiving only an honorable mention last year is Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners and now home to vegan specialties such as the Seattle chili veggie dog with vegan cream cheese and the IchiBan veggie dog with teriyaki-glazed onions, grated daikon and carrot, shredded nori, and creamy vegan dressing. Rounding out the top five are the Detroit Tigers' Comerica Park and the Oakland A's O.co Coliseum. Hammond Stadium, home of the Fort Myers Miracle, took top honors in the minor leagues.
