Flagstaff, Ariz. - Wearing sexy "wood nymph" costumes and holding signs that read, "Plant the Seeds of a Vegan Diet," two PETA members will distribute fruit and vegetable seed packets to passersby to encourage them to "go green" this Earth Day by going vegan. They will also hand out leaflets explaining how the meat industry is responsible for an enormous amount of deforestation (70 percent of the Amazon rainforest has been cleared for raising cattle) and how each person who goes vegan saves an acre of trees a year.
Where: Intersection of Aspen and San Francisco streets, Flagstaff
When: Wednesday, April 20, 12 noon
"More and more, we're hearing about how meat production damages our forests, our water supply, and the global climate," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "The best way for Flagstaff residents to help the planet this Earth Day is to switch to a vegan diet."
