Sudbury, Ontario - With her nearly nude body painted to resemble the Canadian flag and holding a banner that reads, "Stop the Seal Slaughter," a sexy PETA member will descend on downtown Sudbury on Thursday to protest the annual massacre.

Where:           19 Lisgar St. (near the intersection of Cedar and Lisgar streets), Sudbury

When:            Thursday, April 21, 12 noon

"I'll gladly show some of my skin if it will help save seals' skins," says bodypainted beauty Emily Lavender. "As long as the government sits on its hands in the face of this carnage, the seal slaughter will continue to be a bloody smear on Canada's international reputation."

The action is the latest salvo in PETA's campaign to stop the largest massacre of marine mammals in the world. During the annual slaughter, seal pups have their heads bashed in or are shot while other babies watch in fear and try in vain to get away. Many animals are skinned alive. Of the approximately 300,000 harp seals who were expected to be killed last year, more than three-fourths were spared, in part because the price of seal fur has plummeted as the international outrage against the seal slaughter has risen. The European Union and the U.S. have banned seal products, and many world leaders—including Barack Obama—have spoken out against the massacre.
