Princeton, Mass. — The competition to be named PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door is heating up, and 36-year-old Princeton resident Matthew Moncreaff may just take home the grand prize. He's beaten out hundreds of other entrants from across the U.S. to become one of 10 male contestants to advance to the final round in PETA's contest. Two winners (one female and one male) will be crowned PETA's Sexiest Vegetarians, and each will win a free trip to Maui.

"On average, vegetarians are slimmer and healthier than meat-eaters are—and they save more than 100 animals a year from factory farms, slaughterhouses, and fishing nets," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "One look at our radiant finalists proves that there's nothing sexier than compassion."

Moncreaff went vegetarian three years ago, and it wasn't long before he decided to adopt a fully vegan diet. He credits that switch with helping him to achieve a more youthful appearance, increased muscle mass, and a higher energy level—all of which have been very helpful in his professional life as the owner and operator of a martial arts and fitness studio. So it should come as no surprise that his martial arts academy's summer camps and retreats serve only vegetarian meals. When he's not teaching, Moncreaff enjoys growing fruits and vegetables in his garden, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, swimming, and playing the guitar.
