Los Angeles — The competition to be named PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door is heating up, and Los Angeles resident Ryan Husk and Santa Monica resident Nik Tyler are two of 20 contestants (10 male and 10 female) to advance to the final round in PETA's contest. Two winners (one female and one male) will be crowned PETA's Sexiest Vegetarians, and each will win a free trip to Maui.

"On average, vegetarians are slimmer and healthier than meat-eaters are—and they save more than 100 animals a year from factory farms, slaughterhouses, and fishing nets," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "One look at our radiant finalists proves that there's nothing sexier than compassion."

Husk, 33, went vegetarian two years ago after researching the health, animal welfare, and environmental benefits of a plant-based diet. In addition to participating in demonstrations against animal abuse in circuses, he enjoys working in his vegetable and herb garden. Husk is an actor, and he likes Star Trek and anything French (he has dual citizenship). His turn-ons include good health, intelligence, humor, and energy.

Tyler, 27, is a lifelong vegetarian and has been vegan for the last nine years. Tyler credits his vegan diet with improving his health and giving him increased energy and brain power. In his spare time, Tyler participates in demonstrations against McDonald's, KFC, and other companies that refuse to make animal welfare improvements. Tyler is an actor who enjoys going to the beach, rollerblading, and playing soccer, volleyball, and tennis.
