Pensacola, Fla. -- Wearing nothing but sexy auto-mechanic outfits and holding signs that read, "Fill Up on Clean Energy: Go Vegan," a pair of PETA Petrol Pin-Ups will hand out free vegan food in Pensacola on Tuesday. In addition to filling up their stomachs, the first 25 customers to line up at the pumps and try a vegan sandwich will receive two free gallons of gas, which will be pumped by a lovely Petrol Pin-Up.
When: Tuesday, May 24, 12 noon
Where: Shell gas station, 2020 W. Cervantes St., Pensacola
According to Environmental Defense, if every American skipped one meal of chicken per week and substituted vegetarian foods instead, the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than a half-million cars off U.S. roads. In addition, researchers at the University of Chicago determined that switching to a vegan diet is more effective at countering climate change than switching from a standard car to a hybrid.
"In a time of rising gas prices and rising concern for the environment, we're going the extra mile to help Americans fill up on vegan fuel for their tummies and gas for their tanks," says Petrol Pin-Up Virginia Fort.
