New York Freelance Whales multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Doris Cellar is so in love with her vegetarian diet that she's stripping down to prove it. In a brand-new music video shot exclusively for peta2, the world's largest youth animal rights organization, Cellar appears naked from the shoulders up as she demonstrates her passion for veggies. Backed by a ukulele, Cellar sings, "I like beets, and I love snow peas," as she takes a bite of each vegetable. The song continues, highlighting veggies, fruits, and nuts. It concludes, "There's no reason to eat meat."

Cellar decided to go vegetarian last year while promoting Freelance Whales' debut album, Weathervanes, on tour in Europe. She credits her new diet with giving her improved mental and physical health. "Just knowing that I'm doing something good for my health coupled with knowing that I am not contributing to the deaths of trillions of innocent yet tortured animals helps me sleep better at night," she explains. "If you've ever felt the feeling like 'something's not right' in your body or just need a change in your life, try going vegetarian, and you just might find yourself surprised by how easy and good for you it actually is."

In addition to causing massive animal suffering, meat production is a leading cause of greenhouse-gas emissions, water pollution, and land degradation. Also, eating meat, eggs, and dairy products has been linked to heart disease, strokes, diabetes, obesity, and cancer.

Freelance Whales was formed in 2008 in Brooklyn. The band's music has been lauded by Spin, NPR, and Entertainment Weekly and featured at South by Southwest, on Twitter, and in episodes of Chuck, Skins, and One Tree Hill, among others.

Doris Cellar is part of a long list of musicians—including Rise Against, Chris Walla of Death Cab For Cutie, Ted Leo, and more—who have teamed up with peta2 to promote a vegetarian diet.
