Norfolk, Va. -- "I spend almost as much time in the water as I do on land, so I really relate to frogs and other amphibians!" says swimmer and Olympic gold medalist Amanda Beard in a just-released endorsement of PETA's Frog Saver Lily Pad, a small, inexpensive device that can mean the difference between life and death for frogs. The Frog Saver gives frogs and other small animals who accidentally leap or fall into a swimming pool just the leg up that they need to keep from drowning.
"Sadly, I've found dead frogs in my pool, and it's heartbreaking to know that they drowned because they weren't able to get onto dry land," continues Beard. "PETA's Frog Saver Lily Pad—which snaps onto a pool ladder, wall, or garden pond—is a real lifesaver for frogs, lizards, baby ducks, and other small animals because it can help them get out of the water. It's a must-have device! And it's as cute as a frog's lips."
This isn't the first time that Beard has teamed up with PETA to speak out for animals. In 2008, the super-fit and super-hot athlete posed for a stunning ad au naturel asking her throngs of admirers to "Be Comfortable in Your Own Skin—Don't Wear Fur."
