Watertown, Wis.
— When it comes to a no-holds-barred approach to promoting animal rights, activists across the country have a lot to learn from 16-year-old Jordan Turner. The Watertown High School junior is the cofounder and manager of the Global Conservation Group, which has tackled animal abuse through protests, fundraisers, and active campaigning in the community. For his hard work in defense of animals, Jordan Turner will receive a Certificate of Appreciation from peta2, PETA's youth division.

"Jordan Turner has used his compassion, energy, and dedication to make sure that his friends, family, and community know about the many ways we can all help stop animal abuse," says peta2 Division Manager Marta Holmberg. "From raising money for lifesaving spay and neuter surgeries to organizing protests against McDonald's over the company's refusal to implement a less cruel method of chicken slaughter, Jordan is an inspiration to aspiring animal rights activists—of all ages—across the country."

Jordan cofounded the Global Conservation Group with his parents. Some of their recent activities include the following:

  • Leading weekly McCruelty protests against McDonald's for its July 6, 2011 continued use of a cruel, outdated chicken slaughter method
  • Fighting the animal overpopulation crisis by raising money for spay and neuter surgeries for dogs and cats
  • Creating the unique and eye-catching campaign slogan "Are You a Hooker?" to raise awareness for the cruelty behind fishing
  • Providing care and rehabilitation for injured wildlife
  • Petitioning ICB Airways to stop shipping primates from St. Kitts to laboratories for use in painful and deadly experiments

Jordan will receive a framed certificate from peta2 and be featured on peta2's website. He is available for interviews.
