Los Angeles -- Alicia Silverstone is going back to school—but it's not for a reprisal of her beloved Clueless role. The author of The Kind Diet is headed to UCLA to lead a discussion on how our dining choices affect our health, the environment, and animals. Hosted by UCLA's Bruins for Animals and peta2, PETA's youth division, the event will feature free vegan Thanksgiving food provided by local vegan chain Native Foods Café.
When: Monday, November 21, 5 p.m.
Where: Ackerman Student Union, Grand Ballroom, UCLA campus, Los Angeles
"Being vegan truly is the secret to my life's joy and peace," says Silverstone. "I feel physically and spiritually better than I could have ever imagined knowing that I am doing everything I can to reduce animal suffering with simple lifestyle choices."
Known for her numerous film, television, and stage roles, Silverstone has been a vegan for more than 10 years. She was named PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian in 2004, and in 2007, she starred in one of the organization's most eye-catching vegetarian testimonials.
UCLA students will have seating priority at the event, which is free and open to the public.
