Los Angeles -- It might be several more months before the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) issues official stamps honoring living people—but PETA is ahead of the curve with a new "Vegetarian Icons" postage sheet produced by Stamps.com, an approved licensed vendor of the USPS. Some of the series' animal-friendly stars—including Bob Barker, Pamela Anderson, and Steve-O—will gather tomorrow at a post office in Hollywood to unveil the sheets of 44-cent postage stamps.

"Eating for me is how you proclaim your beliefs three times a day," says Natalie Portman, one of the vegetarians featured in the series. Sir Paul McCartney went vegetarian while he was fishing, saying, "I realized as I watched him fight for breath that his life was as important to him as mine is to me."

Other dynamic vegetarians from throughout history featured on the stamps include Ellen DeGeneres, Mohandas Gandhi, Morrissey, Leonardo da Vinci, Russell Simmons, Chrissie Hynde, César Chávez, Joan Jett, Johnny Appleseed, Leo Tolstoy, Bryan Adams, Leona Lewis, Pythagoras, Albert Schweitzer, and Woody Harrelson.

The limited-edition postage series is available for purchase at PETA.org, and the images can be previewed here. The sheets feature photos donated by StarMax, Inc.
