Cincinnati -- Together with Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless, members of PETA will distribute more than 100 fur coats, donated by those who have moved on to kinder, gentler garments, to some of the neediest people in downtown Cincinnati—one of the top 10 poorest cities in the U.S.
When: Thursday, December 8, 12 noon
Where: 117 E. 12th St., Cincinnati
"We can't bring these animals back, but we can send a message that only people truly struggling to survive have any excuse for wearing fur," says PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk.
For every cuff, collar, piece of trim, or coat made from real fur, an animal suffered a miserable life and an agonizing death. For this reason, many people—including Mariah Carey, Kim Cattrall, and Sharon Osbourne—have chosen to donate their fur coats to PETA for use in educational displays, to provide bedding for orphaned animals, or to give to needy people in the U.S. and overseas.
