Norfolk, Va. -- The market for fashionable, animal-friendly clothing and accessories is exploding—and three retailers who strive to meet this growing demand have won kudos from peta2, PETA's youth division. The award is part of the sixth annual Libby Awards ("Libby" is for "liberation"), which honor animal-friendly people and products.

ModCloth won the award for Best Vegan Shoes because of its wide selection of super-chic, nonleather shoes, which the shop proudly denotes as "vegan" on its website. SpiritHoods' must-have faux-fur hats demonstrate how fashionistas can celebrate animals' beauty without harming a hair on their heads and earned the company the Libby for Best Cruelty-Free Accessories. And Glamour Kills' partnerships with peta2—from giveaways to pro-adoption posters and more—landed it the award for Best Animal-Friendly Clothing Company.

"ModCloth, SpiritHoods, and Glamour Kills show how easy it is to be stylish and kind to animals," says peta2 Division Manager Marta Holmberg. "From hats to coats to shoes, today's retailers recognize that compassion is in fashion."

Also up for Best Animal-Friendly Clothing Company were Atticus, Herbivore, and Iron Fist. Other competitors for Best Vegan Shoes were Charlotte Russe, Payless, and Lulu's. The other nominees for Best Cruelty-Free Accessories included Ro & Co (handbags), Kimchi Blue (purses), and Hot Topic (purple zebra hair extensions).

Twenty-nine Libby Awards will be given out this year, recognizing everything from the best cruelty-free cosmetics company to peta2's favorite animal-friendly celebrity. Each winner will receive a framed certificate and be featured on peta2.com.

For more information about the winners, please visit peta2.com.

Winners were chosen by peta2 based on equal consideration of three factors: the number of votes received, the quality of the animal-friendly product or the nominees' enthusiasm for being animal-friendly, and feedback from the nominees' fans.
