Pair Asks Shoppers to 'Be Sweet to Animals'

Dayton, Ohio -- Wearing mistletoe bikinis, a pair of PETA activists will brave the elements to hand out dairy-free chocolates to Christmas shoppers in chilly downtown Dayton on Tuesday. The tags on the candy hearts will read, "Be Sweet to Animals," and the ladies will hold signs reading, "Have a Heart—Go Vegan." The shivering duo's point? That consumers should give animals some comfort and joy by trying a delicious meatless holiday feast this year.
When: Tuesday, December 20, 12 noon
Where: Courthouse Square on Main Street between Second and Third Streets, Dayton
Besides causing the daily suffering of billions of animals raised and killed for food, the consumption of meat and other animal products has been conclusively linked to heart disease, strokes, diabetes, obesity, and cancer.
"The holidays should be a celebration of life," says bikini-clad PETA activist Virginia Fort. "Meat makes you sick, and it's murder on animals. I can't think of a bigger turnoff at Christmas or any other time of year."
